Lorraine trained at Chelsea School of Art (B.A Hons) and Goldsmiths College (ATC)

An Arts Council Award winner of 1977, and one of the original Wapping artists, Lorraine has exhibited widely. Her work is in private collections and public spaces. She has also executed numerous commissions, for homes and work spaces, including restaurants, hairdressers, and foyers.

Her paintings are totally accessible to the layman - images of light and dark, cold and warmth, air and solid, suggesting weather, mood, outiside/inside, and movement. The large paintings are overwhelming in colour, and bear a relationship to Matisse, and the American abstract artists.

Her original interest was in depicting people through intimate portraits, and in a variety of situations, as in 'The Beach' and 'The Table' / 'Dinner Party' series. Toulouse Lautrec and Rembrandt were her earliest inspirations. Colour, brushmarks and space became her later concerns, resulting in the totally abstract work.

However, even the later work such as 'Spain - Double Vision' have roots in real life.
